Present and Future Plans

Vision- Make Disciples (see section in About Us)

Disciple- A disciple is a person who has repented of sin and professes Jesus publicly as his or her Savior.  This person is actively engaged in the discipleship process through the daily reading of God’s word, good works, financial giving, and the visible development of Godly character.  Personal ownership of one’s faith is a mark of a true believer.

How do we make disciples?  What do we value?

Value- Sunday Worship

Sunday Morning Worship is a place where God’s word is proclaimed in a way that is understandable and practical to everyone’s life.  You can expect regular reading of scripture, corporate singing of praises to God, and the monthly participation in the Lord’s Table (communion).

Sunday morning would not be complete without our awesome Children's Worship.  Each week our children are taught about life transformation through Jesus Christ.  We are dedicated to providing the children at The Well with teachers who love Jesus and can't wait to share about that love in a bold and exciting way.

The Well is a church that is two years old.  Due to this, many of the characteristics and systems of a church with a longer history are not present yet or may never be.  However, there are some ministry areas that we would like to nurture as we continue to grow.

Value-  To assist believers in becoming Disciples of Jesus Christ.

We understand that as much as we would want discipleship to happen on its own, there is an obligation of the church to equip believers in the process of discipleship.  The following are some areas that we believe will properly assist in this process.

Small Groups- We want to be intentional about giving those at The Well the opportunity to speak intimately with others about the truths of scripture and how faith can be applied to our daily lives.  The lives of our small group leaders have been transformed by Jesus Christ and are actively engaged in becoming a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ as noted above.

Discipleship Training- Discipleship training opportunities will be offered quarterly and will be a six to eight week course in different aspects of faith in Jesus Christ.  These classes will be held on Saturday mornings and the topics offered will be announced in the weeks prior to the class.

Financial Peace University- We have an established a flourishing Financial Peace University program. Eventually, we would like to see all of the people who call The Well their home church participate in this program.  If you have more questions, please look at www.daveramsey.com

Youth Group- Currently we have dedicated volunteers who coordinate the middle school and high school programs at The Well.    As we continue to grow and mature as a church, we look for exciting growth in this area.

Compassion- It is our strong desire to assist the needy in our community in anyway possible.  This can be through prayer, financial, or resource assistance.  We desire to be a compassionate church with an outward focus to assist anyone in need, with our main goal being to bring glory to God and multiply disciples of Jesus Christ.

In order to achieve the above effectively, the following people and systems must be in place.

  •  Full time Lead Pastor- Oversee daily ministries of the church.  The Lead Pastor is the primary Sunday morning teacher but his overall calling is to be certain that the mission to "make disciples" is being achieved efficiently.
  •
  • Full Time Pastor of Discipleship- Support the Lead Pastor and help develop programs which will assist in our mission to make disciples.

  • Part-time Worship Pastor- To provide a vital Sunday morning worship experience by providing music and other creative elements that will assist the Lead Pastor to effectively teach God's word.

  • Part-time Children’s Ministry Coordinator- The majority of the responsibility of the Children’s Ministry Coordinator is to recruit and train volunteers to serve the children and families of The Well.  It is the responsibility of the coordinator to select the appropriate learning material for each age group and supply the teachers and supporters with the appropriate supplies in advance.

  • Volunteer Youth Coordinator- It is the responsibility of the Youth Coordinator to provide opportunities for the middle and high school students at The Well to grow in their faith and maturity in Jesus Christ. This is being done in small group settings as well as weekly large group meetings.

  • Compassion Coordinator- It is the responsibility of this person to be in constant prayer for The Well and assist in the needs of our growing community.  This person also helps to motivate others to meet the needs of the church body and the community as needed.

  • Elder Team- The Well is overseen by a governance structure known as the Elder Team.  This is a group of men who fit the qualifications for Eldership as established by Paul in his letter to 1 Timothy 3:1-7  The Elders are in place to insure the effectiveness of the Lead Pastor and the mission and vision for The Well.

Forecast for the Future

An agreement has been reached with the Huntington Parkview Family YMCA to continue to hold our Sunday Worship Services through May of 2012.  Negotiations to extend this time could begin if needed.  One important thing to understand is that we will very likely be at the YMCA until June 2012.  This gives us the time to evaluate our needs as the plans for a permanent location are being determined.

  • To find a dedicated workspace for the pastor and team to rent or purchase until a permanent worship facility and offices are available.

  • Search and purchase of land for building site

  • Begin to meet with key members and attenders of The Well to explain future plans for hiring and building

  • Begin a corporate time of fasting and prayer for our future

  • Search and hire Pastor of Discipleship

  •  Plans for building and fundraising campaign released to congregation

  •  Prayer and fundraising

  • Break ground for new or re-purpose an existing structure

Final Note-

We are not afraid to state that one of the main reasons that we exist is to grow numerically.  We recognize that there are many ways to measure growth not the least of which is in the depth of discipleship for individuals.  We also firmly believe that when disciples are growing in their knowledge of Jesus Christ, they will naturally develop a desire to see others begin a relationship with Jesus and multiplication is inevitable.  We believe that the numeric growth and depth in individual disciples happens simultaneously.
